
March 21st Meeting and FamilySearch Presentation
GCGS members and supporters,
We will have an in-person general meeting with on-line Zoom for remote access on-
Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10am
We will have a short meeting before presentation with officer elections. Meeting is open to everyone.
Larry Cates will give a presentation on FamilySearch and how to use. A large update was recently done with increasing records and research capabilities, which is a free web database to all. This will be invaluable to all searching for that long-lost ancestor, and the price is right.

Guilford County Genealogy Society
Is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 to improve genealogical research in Guilford County, North Carolina. GCGS promotes the collection and preservation of family records, manuscripts, documents, and other Guilford County genealogy materials. We hope some of our work will help in your ancestral research.

About Editor LARRY W. CATES, MLIS
Larry W. Cates has been a local and family history librarian at the Heritage Research Center of the High Point (N.C.) Public Library since 2007. He is past editor of the Journal of the Randolph County Genealogical Society (1996-2011) and of the North Carolina Genealogical Society Journal (2011-2015) and is currently the editor of the Guilford Genealogist. Larry has a number of awards to his credit in the genealogy field. He received the Claude Hunter Moore Award from the N.C. Society of Historians in 2005, the Award for Excellence in Periodical Publication from the North Carolina Genealogical Society in 2008, and the Award for Outstanding Contribution to North Carolina Genealogy, also from NCGS, in 2013. In 2017, the National Genealogical Society presented him with the prestigious Filby Award for Genealogical Librarianship. His experience as a genealogist goes back to 1989.
